A Rare Tasting of Langmeil Old Vines Wines with James Lindner

We are thrilled to announce a rare tasting of Langmeil Old Vine Wines with James Lindner, Family Proprietor/Director of Langmeil!

On Saturday, 29 March, wine lovers gathered at The ExciseMan Wine & Whisky Bar for a truly special tasting with James Lindner of Langmeil Winery.

Guests enjoyed 6 iconic wines from the Old Vine Garden Collection, including two vintages of ‘The Freedom 1843’ Shiraz — made from what’s believed to be the oldest surviving Shiraz vineyard in the world!

The Langmeil Old Vine Garden Line-Up:

🍷 Langmeil ‘The Freedom 1843’ Shiraz 2021 and 2015
Langmeil Winery is home to The Freedom 1843 Shiraz, believed to be planted in 1843 by vigneron Christian Auricht. The original plantings still survive and are some of the oldest and rarest vines in the world.

🍷 Langmeil ‘Pure Eden’ Shiraz 2015
Pure Eden is a single site wine, made from an Eden Valley vineyard planted by Charles Angas in the 1890s.

🍷 Langmeil ‘Orphan Bank’ Shiraz 2021
Ten rows of Shiraz planted pre-1860 were saved from the developer’s bulldozer and replanted alongside the original Langmeil vineyards on the banks of the North Para River.

🍷 Langmeil ‘Jackaman’s’ Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Jackaman’s vineyard is home to Langmeil’s finest and rarest Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in the 1960s during the Cabernet revolution in the Barossa.

🍷 Langmeil ‘The Fifth Wave Grenache’ 2020
The Fifth Wave is Langmeil’s most treasured Old Vine Garden Grenache, planted in 1973 and is dedicated to the fifth generation of the Lindner family.
