Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos Douro Branco 2020 White

S$48.00

Of all the birds in the Douro, the golden oriole (papa figos in Portuguese) is one of the rarest. It’s an attractive, brightly-coloured migratory bird, unique and rare, and thus the perfect inspiration for this lovely wine.

Winemaking:
Grape varieties selected from the high areas of the Upper Douro sub-region were specially chosen for this wine. Good ripening is achieved in those areas while maintaining the desired freshness and acidity. After carefully being destemmed, the grapes are pressed and the free-run juice is separated from the other presses. This is followed by decantation at a low temperature with rigorous oenological control. Once the desired clarity is obtained, alcoholic fermentation is started at a controlled temperature between 16ºC and 18ºC. At this temperature, fermentation takes around 20 days.

Grape Varieties:
Rabigato, Viosinho, Arinto, Côdega de Larinho, Moscatel

About Casa Ferreirinha

The Douro region is one of the oldest Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) regions in Portugal’s wine growing history. Over 250 years old, it is located in north-eastern Portugal along the Douro River Valley. Founded by Bernardo Ferreira, whose formula was refined by his descendants, especially his granddaughter Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, known affectionately as “Ferreirinha” or “Ferreirinha-da-Régua”. The prestigious A.A. Ferreira company was acquired by Sogrape in 1987.Thorough knowledge of the Douro Superior, the features of its climate and soil, and carefully selecting the varieties to be used provided winemaker Luís Sottomayor and his team the basis for Casa Ferreirinha’s premium wines.
