Mortlach 25 Years Speyside Single Malt Whisky 500ml – Speyside, Scotland

S$1,288.00

Mortlach 25 Year Old is the oldest expression from the distilleries 2014 releases.  Mortlach uses whisky matured mostly in refill American oak casks, aged for a quarter of a century before bottling the whisky into this striking bottle. This is a 50cl bottling.

ABV: 43.4% 500ml

Its beautiful nose of vanilla and pineapple with its deep and rich palate of dark chocolate, spices and dried fruit make this a lovely release.

Mortlach 25 Year Old 50cl

Mortlach was founded in 1823 and was the first of Dufftown’s “Seven Stills” to be licensed. It rose to pre-eminence under George Cowie & Son, who’s unique distillation regime produced a famously “meaty” whisky, which was highly prized by blenders. It was for this reason that it was acquired by John Walker & Sons, and so important to them was it that little stock was left available for bottling as a single malt. The Flora & Fauna release was the first official distillery bottling, but it was not until 2014 that Mortlach was bottled under its own fully fledged single malt brand.

This 25 year old was part of the new Mortlach core range in 2014. It has been matured exclusively in refill American oak casks. The smaller bottle sizes and price tags on this range drew some criticism from fans however, and the range was overhauled again after just four years. The new 2018 range was topped by a 20 year old expression instead.
