Pink granite soils impart amazing traits and flavors to old vines of Gamay Noir grapes. The cru village of Fleurie is known for producing softer, more elegant wines than the firmer, more concentrated styles produced in Moulin-à-Vent and Morgon. Here the Gamay grape takes on a very floral and aromatic personality inherent to the character of Fleurie. In the glass, Les Vieux Granits starts out with sweet aromas of ripe raspberries and from there leads into darker flavors of black currant. Spicy components and more complexity works into the act as the wine opens up.
