Aotea Chardonnay 2019 White Wine – Nelson, New Zealand
Our Queen Victoria Vineyard is located in the Motueka area in the heart of a region known for its apple orchards, kiwifruit and hops. Our grapes are grown on very stoney free draining soils giving lovely fruit clarity and varietal intensity.
Aromatic and fresh Sauvignon Blanc flavours were encouraged prior to vintage through careful canopy management. The fruit was de-stemmed and pressed immediately after harvest and a cool fermentation was initiated in stainless steel tanks to retain the clean, fresh aromatic fruit characters.
Rich and luscious with notes of toasted hazel nuts, cinnamon brioche and baked peach. The palate is supple with toasty oak notes lingering on the finish.
“Creamy-textured chardonnay with grapefruit, white peach, ginger and subtle toasted-nut flavours. Appealing purity and a good balance between a little alcohol heat and taut acidity that drives a lengthy finish.”

Nelson’s oldest wine estate celebrated its 40th anniversary in December 2015.
Seifried Estate, with its beautiful wooden building surrounded by more than 250 hectares of vineyards, was started by Austrian-born Hermann Seifried and his New Zealander wife Agnes in 1973, when they planted their first grapes in the Moutere Valley near Nelson. They made their first wine in 1976. Seifried Estate is a proud member of the SWNZ (Sustainable Winegrowing NZ).
Aotea represents a selection of wines which the Seifried winemaking team consider to be the very best of the best. The fruit is harvested from single vineyard Estate grown vines. The wines offer texture while maintaining the varietal character of the grape – wines with depth and finesse.
