Greenock Creek Roennfeldt Road Shiraz 1999
The massively concentrated and opulent Roennfeldt Road Shiraz, is deep in colour with intense dark berry/ mocha/ dried plum/ dark espresso/ musky aromas and flavours, chocolaty ripe tannins and underlying savoury notes. Fruit is drawn from vines planted in the early 1900s and is vinified in open brick plastered fermenters and regularly plunged over. The free run wine and pressings are kept entirely separate to increase blending options. The wines are drained and basket “pressed off” into new seasoned American oak hogsheads. Roennfeldt Road Shiraz is matured in barrel for around 36 months before assemblage and bottling. Although the wine is plush, dense and rich, it possesses a compelling percussion and balance.
